Welcome to Yamagoya Munakataten

2673 Nosaka, Munakata, Fukuoka 811-3423, Japan

General Info

Tucked away in a quiet corner of Munakata, Yamagoya Munakataten feels like the kind of ramen spot you stumble upon once-and then keep coming back to. The atmosphere leans casual and welcoming, which makes it especially easy to settle in, whether you’re visiting solo or with family.

From the moment you sit down, the menu offers a comforting mix of classic and bold ramen choices. One standout is the 昭和 むかし ラーメン, a nostalgic bowl that brings a deep, rich flavor profile reminiscent of traditional Japanese ramen shops. The broth feels layered and satisfying, while the noodles hold just the right texture. If you prefer something with a sharper kick, the 激辛ラーメン delivers a fiery punch without overwhelming the overall taste-spicy, but still balanced.

Another popular option is the ネギ ラーメン, which highlights fresh green onions for a brighter, slightly sharper flavor. It’s a great contrast to the heavier broths and gives the menu a nice range of choices. Pair any ramen with their 餃子, and you’ll quickly understand why regulars recommend it. The dumplings come out crispy on the outside and juicy inside, and when dipped into their signature sauce for gyoza, the flavors really come alive.

Service here adds to the overall experience. The table service is attentive without feeling intrusive, and the onsite services make dining smooth and relaxed. It’s also worth noting how accessible the space is-there’s a wheelchair accessible parking lot and wheelchair accessible seating, which makes the restaurant inclusive and comfortable for a wider range of guests.

The setting itself is family-friendly, with a layout that works well for groups and a menu that appeals to different tastes. You’ll often see a mix of locals and visitors, which gives the place a lively but still laid-back vibe. Reviews from diners often highlight consistency-both in flavor and service-which is something that stands out after multiple visits.

Overall, Yamagoya Munakataten offers a well-rounded ramen experience. The combination of flavorful dishes, thoughtful service, and a welcoming environment makes it a reliable choice when exploring ramen spots in this part of Fukuoka.

What customers say?

“ Both the ramen and the atmosphere of the restaurant have a classic mountain hut feel. The fried rice was lightly browned on the outside and crispy, just how I like it! ”

“ It'd been a while since I'd last visited, and I saw that they had Jiro-style ramen on the menu, so I ordered it out of curiosity. A bowl cost 1,750 yen including extra noodles and meat, but I was very satisfied with both the quantity and the taste. The pork slices in particular were large and tender, and the flavor of the soup was soaked into them - they were delicious. With prices rising these days, it's not at all unusual for a meal to cost over 1,000 yen at any ramen shop, so I thought it would be nice to spend this much money to try something that I can't get at home while I'm at a ramen shop. The staff were mostly cheerful, so I'd rate it about 4.5 stars. ”

“ I wonder if the taste varies depending on the store? The soup is delicious, but it's a bit too much. ”

- 河西康次 -

“ Today, the staff recommended a Jiro-style ramen for me, and it was absolutely delicious! Thank you for the attentive service and delicious ramen. I'll definitely come back! ”

“ In addition to tonkotsu ramen, they also serve Jiro-style ramen, so it's well-attended and I went three times and was able to get a seat each time, but there was a wait of several groups, so it seems to be a popular restaurant. The fried rice in the set meal seemed a little on the small side and had a hard texture, so it might not be to everyone's taste. For pickled ginger and takana, you go to the corner to get the amount you need. All the staff, except for the kitchen staff, seem to be foreigners, and they are quick and efficient, working harder than the average part-time worker, although they sometimes don't understand difficult Japanese (questions that aren't often asked), so it's all very charming. By the way, the person I went with said that the Jiro-style ramen is relatively mild and is for beginners. Still, from an outsider's perspective, the portions seem more than enough... ”

“ Until now, I've always preferred firm noodles at Nagahama ramen, but when I happened to pass by, I stopped in and tried their regular ramen, which was delicious and different from Nagahama ramen. After trying it once, I started going there often whenever I'm passing by. Maybe it's because I've turned 60 and my tastes have changed, but this was to my liking. Depending on the season, they have campaigns like free refills, so it's easy to eat. They also offer complimentary spicy takana, which is great. ”

“ Retro-style ramen shop Even though a huge chain restaurant has opened nearby, I still come here. Their ramen is solid and delicious. Around July 2025, they also added Jiro-style dishes to their menu. ”

- BEKKAN -

“ The Showa Ramen was delicious. I've been going to this restaurant for over 20 years. I used to work nearby, so I ate there every day. There used to be branches all over the place, but they've all disappeared, which is sad. ”
